Under our nose!

Practice this morning with Rieko. Practicing – reviewing mele for Folklife. Talk again returns to vinca, vinca, vinca. Planning our “ninja” vinca gathering at the local stores; thinking where have we seen this stuff. We know it’s around, but where? Walking out to the car at WWU’s Speech & Audiology center I look and see…VINCA! Lots, and lots of vinca! Right under our noses! We are happy and relieved but feeling a little dense. I guess something so obvious can seem to “not” be here/there. So, no ninja exploits for us, we have been saved! Plenty of vinca readily available, right under our noses! 😉

Folklife

Well, folklife is 4 weeks away, YIKES! Need to get the mele and oli pa`a. Not sure that they are ma`a yet but working on it. Need to finish my pa`u top and gather vinca for lei kupe`e. Ti in the freezer ready to be used. Other clothing needs to be cleaned and pressed. Don’t feel that there is enough time and don’t want to embarrass myself or my halau.

Plan to go down to halau each week and work, work, work. Have to build up my endurance at home with my mini-training. Need to stretch so I can be ai`ha`a and move fluidly. We will keep notes on improvements made, things to work on, etc.

A hui hou!
